Useful Tips
Orchid Care
Orchid care is not as difficult as it seems. They are very precious plants but they don’t expect so much attention. Their roots need air as much as water. Therefore, they grow better in high air capacity, porous, water-repellent soil. They don’t like to be watered usually; in fact, also don’t like water to be accumulated in their vases or flowerpots. In these kind of situations the roots may decay and orchid can not live. In other words, orchid’s enemy is “ so much water”. Orchids should be placed in a bright place without direct sunlight and irrigation interval should be about 10 days in an heated environment and plant food should be participated to irrigation water.
Dieffenbachi Care
Dieffenhachia which is very common in Turkey, is a tropical climate plant classified as indoor plants in our country. The most common type in our country is Dieffenbachia Tropic Snow. Dieffenbachia likes abundant light but it shouldn’t be exposed to direct sunlight. The environment it is placed in should not be colder than room temperature. Watering will vary according to the environment where it is located; a Dieffenbachia in a hot environment often needs more water compared to the one placed in a cold position. Irrigation times should be understood from the soil’s colour; as the amount of water in the soil decreases, it’s color fades, this indicated that the soil is dry. If the soil is dry, then it should be irrigated, otherwise additional water should be avoided. The best growing place for Dieffenbachia is cocopeat. When changing soil or flowerpot, cocopeat should be used. Unnecessary pot changes should be avoided and the pots larger or smaller than the needs of the plant should not be used. Water is never enough food for any plant. The minerals which the plant needs are available in some soil (like TROPİKAL PLANT SOIL), plant takes those minerals so that minerals will end after a period. For this, plant food (liquid fertilizer) should be added necessarily to irrigation water.
Cactus Care
Cactuses are desert plants, they need abundant light and high temperature. Unles there is extreme cold, it can Show durability at low tempereatures; however it always develops faster in hot weather. It’s need for water is very low. Additional water should be avoided, as the soil becomes dry, little amount of water should be given. Demand for water, as most plants, varies according to the environmental changes; in a hot environment it may need water once in two weeks, while in lower temperatures it may need once a month. Cactus deaths become usually due to extra water and low light.
